You know how is it when you remember or memorise a verse through and through and yet, in times when you stumble upon it when you least expect, you discover new revelations.
the verse for the year 2007 for me is Hebrews 12:1-2
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. 2Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
What struck me most was in verse 2 part B. "Who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."
Why joy? (Thats the real question)
I realise, living to die the worst death possible isn't the life we're living for, and even if it were, we woulden't be very happy about it, would we? Yet Jesus lived a life of scorn, shame and much endurance. Better still, he did it in joy! I was just wondering pondering "Wow... Jesus must have been really crazy or insane to do such things in joy." Yet I was convinced, he wasn't joyful about the pain he had to go through, who would? I believe that his joy was in his reward. The reward of his children, God holds us in such high accord that he makes up his heir
Galatians 4:7
7So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, God has made you also an heir
Its too much to handle, even for me after walking with God for sometime, and knowing this. I don't think i'd ever give a traitor a second thought before putting the knife to his neck, in accordance to the magnitude of course.
YET! Christ set us free, and returned us to a respectable position coveted my lucifer before falling to the earth in eternal condemnation.
In conclusion, treasure life, because life is God treasure
BLESSED AT,
